From 13th to the 26th of October 2026 I ran an experiment. I used [Grok Bot](https://x.ai/bot) to define a growth strategy and then help me get it done.
We ended up with a simple strategy to focus on replying with certain target accounts early on. I wrote all the replies myself (and only when I felt like), but [Bot](https://x.ai/bot) helped replying earlier to increase chance of engagement. We also targeted small accounts with highly relevant content.
The growth was very modest (but not null).
Small accounts tend to follow more, large accounts provide views. Some of the views did convert into my [Substack](https://substack.com/@diogosnows) and this [garden](https://garden.diogoneves.com/), but they bounced quickly.
What surprised me was when nearly all growth disappeared as soon as I reduced the reply rate. I don't mean the rate of growth slowed, **I mean it almost entirely reversed!**
My conclusion is that people are curious when they see relevant replies, but there's only one way to grow sustainably, and that's to create content enough people find valuable!
